Feline Pain Management & Medicine Consultations

Rehabilitation Therapy

Dr. Jill has been certified and doing rehabilitation therapy for 15 years and has witnessed the positive effects it has had for her patients. Rehabilitation therapy is an essential aspect to improving pain free mobility in your cat.

Acupuncture

Dr. Jill is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncture Therapist and is passionate about the science behind acupuncture and the pain relief it can provide for her feline patients.

Chronic Pain Syndromes

Chronic pain syndromes in cats can cause major changes in behavior and result in aggression between housemates, changes in appetite, aversion of litterboxes, and hiding or withdrawing from the family. Feline Hyperesthesia and orofacial pain syndrome are two very painful conditions in cats that require a multimodal approach for both assessment and management.

Behavior

Pain management can help improve a cat’s behavior and quality of life. Dr. Jill completed the International Society of Feline Medicine’s Advanced Certificate in Feline Behavior with Distinction and integrates her techniques from the behavior course and pain management training in every feline assessment.

Complex Feline Medical Conditions

Complex medical conditions can sometimes be a bit overwhelming and difficult to manage during a single wellness appointment, especially if your cat is experiencing more than one disease at the same time. Many of these diseases cause discomfort and changes in behavior that need addressed. Some of the conditions that Dr. Jill welcomes the opportunity to work with your veterinarian are balancing heart disease and kidney disease, pancreatitis with diabetes, kidney disease with diabetes, chronic inflammatory disease with diabetes, abnormal hereditary conditions in young cats, and chronic respiratory and dental disease.

Senior Cat Care

Senior cats present with their own special needs. Their metabolic demands are changing, and appropriate nutrition is imperative to meeting their caloric needs as well as well as supporting their everchanging organ health. Cognitive awareness may be starting to change as well and environmental modifications to maintain enrichment and mobility is important. Our Senior kitties are also magical at hiding chronic painful conditions and proper assessment can drastically improve their quality of life.

Palliative & Hospice Care

Providing supportive care and proper pain management with terminal diseases is one of the most caring services we can offer our feline family members. Evaluating nutritional needs, anti-nausea and pain medications are essential in the last days to months and can drastically enhance quality of life and the human-animal bond. Although difficult to discuss, euthanasia and end of life care is by far one of the most loving acts of service we can provide our cats.
